Mrs. Joyce B. Walker, age 72, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014. Mrs. Walker was born May 12, 1942 in Wilkes County to Lonnie and Mabel Brown Ledbetter. Mrs. Walker was a member of Billings Hill Baptist Church. She worked as an inspector for Bassett Furniture and was the owner of Joyce's Flower Shop. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Jean Wagnor and Dollie Smith. Survivors include: her husband, J.D. Walker of the home; daughter, Tammy Walker Cheek of N. Wilkesboro; sister, Judy Ledbetter Curry of Austin, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Kevin Cheek and Heather Nicole Cheek Allspach and husband John; great-grandchild Jace Parker Allspach. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Tim Pruitt and Rev. Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Butch Curry, Mary Yarboro, Shelby Stanley, Irene Pruitt and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
