Mr. Raymond Lewis Crump, age 88, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Chatham Nursing Center. Mr. Crump was born February 6, 1926 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Lewis Henry and Della Morrison Crump. Raymond retired after 44 years from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as an usher and taught the intermediate boys Sunday school class for many years. Raymond enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mable Ann Stanley Crump, three sisters, Pauline Waters, Hazel Ladd, and Bertha . and three brothers, Floyd Colvard, Lee Crump, and Harold Crump. Survivors include his wife, Janette B. Crump of the home, a son, Stanley Lewis Crump and wife Tonya of Winston-Salem, a daughter, Lu Ann Rikard and husband Cliff of Concord, two step sons, Craig Harris and wife Connie of Ronda, Doug Holbrook and wife Misty of North Wilkesboro, a step daughter, Anya Byrd and husband Neal of Roaring River, six grandchildren, Lyndsey Osler and husband Steve of Charlotte, Whitney Rikard of St Louis Park, Minnesota, Stephanie Mathews of Seminole, Fla., Austin Crump, Hayden Crump, and Hunter Crump all of Winston-Salem; one great grandchild, Rosemary Osler, eight step grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds, and Rev. James Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Crump, Hayden Crump, Hunter Crump, Tim Ladd, Tommy Crump, Doug Holbrook, Craig Harris. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehab Center for the love and care given to Raymond and the family.
