Mrs. Lois Long Poplin, age 93, passed away, Monday, October 13, 2014 at Chatham Nursing Center & Rehab. Mrs. Poplin was born April 6, 1921 in Forsyth County to Ammon and Mamie Watts Long. Mrs. Poplin was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Carl A. Poplin; daughter, Carla Sue Poplin; brothers, Melvin "Sam" Long, Paul Long and Kelly Long; sisters, Treva Norman, Alta Brown, Milna Poindexter and Erline Whitley. Survivors include: daughters, Rita K. Poplin of Elkin, Renee Lambert and husband Andy of Boonville; grandchildren, Grace Wells and husband Luke and Joy Lambert; great-grandson, Logan Wells and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Andy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
