September 11, 1921 — September 14, 2014

Mrs. Helen Finney Anderson, age 93, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Chatham Nursing & Rehab. Mrs. Anderson was born September 11, 1921 in Surry County to W.A. "Bud" and Mabel Thompson Finney. Mrs. Anderson was a graduate of Greensboro College and a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Anderson. Survivors include: sons, George L. "Andy" Anderson, Jr. and wife Wanda of Yadkinville, John B. Anderson and wife Linda of Whispering Pines, Barry A. Anderson of Kill Devil Hills and James W. Anderson and wife Lynn of Hurdle Mills, NC; grandchildren, Greg Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Carli Anderson, Kendall Anderson and David Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, Jeremy and Jordan. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Dr. Rick Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family request memorials may be made to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Foundation Urgent Care Project, PO Box 560, Elkin, NC 28621, Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621 or to the donor's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Chatham Nursing & Rehab, Mountain Valley Hospice and the many resident friends for their care.
