Mrs. Mozelle Alexander Couch, age 104, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Pruitt Healthcare of Elkin. Mrs. Couch was born July 25, 1910 in Surry County to Richard Franklin and Media Mastin Alexander. Mrs. Couch was member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she meet her husband Paul. He became a pastor in 1955 and they served many churches across N.C. and T.N. She was a former employee of Chatham Manufacturing, and was a worker and director in day care centers they began in two of their churches. Mrs. Couch was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and friend and was also an avid homemaker, cook and seamstress. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Franklin Couch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucy Layell and husband Phola, Rose "Molly" Gentry and husband Oscar, Florence Wilkins and husband Lester "Karo", Willie Alexander and Jessie Alexander; sisters-in-law, Margaret Cockerham and husband Joe and Peggy Couch; brothers-in-law, Bill Couch and J.T. Cockerham; niece, April Couch Gaffney. Survivors include: daughter, Holly Couch of Elkin; sister-in-law, Dorothy Couch Cockerham of Elkin; nieces, Lynn Colbert and husband Bobby, Cathy Swanson and husband Phil and Molly Couch-Newcomb and husband John; nephews, Matt Couch and wife Sandra, Todd Couch and wife Lisa, Jay Cockerham and wife Linda; several great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be Private. The family would like to thank the staff at Pruitt Health for their years of love and care for Mrs. Couch and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for their love and support especially through the nursing home ministry team, her BFF, Jeanette Moody-Smith and special friend Judy Moody.
