Mrs. Anna Laura Ray Burcham, age 93, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burcham was born December 25, 1920 in Surry County to Claude and Bertha Gilliam Ray. Mrs. Burcham was retired from Lucy Gray Beauty Shoppe where she worked for over 50 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Ray and Ruth Potter; brother, Philip Ray. Survivors include: her husband, Mason P. Burcham of the home; brother, Roger Ray of Elkin; sisters, Evon Lovett Parker of Winston-Salem and Betty R. Marion of Elkin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Rick Bennett officiating. The family will receive following the service at the funeral home. The family requests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, 110 Gwyn Avenue, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank Chatham Nursing & Rehab, Polly Holbrook, Nora Lou Adams, Betty Bray and Lindsay Sechreast for their love and care.
