Mrs. Bonnie Lou Fugate, age 69, passed away Monday, September 01, 2014, at Autumn Care of Mocksville. Mrs. Fugate was born February 16, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama to James Rufus and Nona Henley Fowler. Mrs. Fugate enjoyed caring for her family, sewing, and cooking. She was also an advocate for cancer awareness and research. Bonnie was an excellent example of a virtuous woman as exhibited in Proverbs 31. She advanced the kingdom of God through her musical talent and daily witness, instilling these values to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Fugate was always very active in church, having been a church pianist from the age of 12. She was most recently a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Fugate was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Fugate of Jonesville; son, Bradley Fugate of Boston; daughters, Lisa Matthews and husband Daniel of Mocksville and Amanda Taylor and husband Donald of Charlotte; sister, Jimmie Sue Ferguson and husband Don of Haltom City, Texas; grandchildren, Meghan Matthews, Garrett Matthews, Madison Taylor, Drew Taylor, Emily Taylor and Katie Taylor. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Dodd and Rev. Mattie Ponce De Leon officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.
