In Honor of Mrs. Wanda Poplin Holcomb known as "Weno", "Red", "Nana", daughter, sister, wife and savior. She lived up to every name she received. Mrs. Holcomb, age 66, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. Mrs. Holcomb was born November 12, 1947 in Surry County to Robert Bruce and Etta Ardella Tilley Poplin. Wanda was a two time cancer survivor, she continued to fight the third time with a smile on her face until she passed. She was a strong and selfless woman who constantly worried about everyone except for herself. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jacob Weaver Poplin; nephew, Trevor Poplin and sister-in-law, Nancy Andrew Poplin. Survivors include: her husband, Harold C. Holcomb of the home; daughter, Tammy Todd Wood and husband Keith of State Road; step-son, Brian Holcomb and wife Tina of Spartanburg, S.C.; brother, Jerry Poplin and wife Ruth of Elkin; sister, Teresa P. Cook of State Road; grandchildren, Leya Wood, Josh Foster and Zoee Wood; four nieces; two nephews; numerous, much appreciated friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Mitch Smith and Bill Johnson Hospice Chaplin. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Keep her in your prayers as the good Lord takes her hand and guides her home to see her brother, mother and father.
