Mrs. Libby Stanley Wood, age 68 of Elkin, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 1, 1945 in Surry County to Roby and Nellie White Stanley. Mrs. Wood was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Wood; brothers, Dexter Stanley and Gary Stanley; and sister, Shirley Shinault. Survivors include: her husband, Ransom Wood of the home; son, Timmy Wood and his wife Majanne of Elkin; daughters, Tonya Gentry and her husband Kenneth of Elkin and Donna Roope and her husband Will of Hays; sisters, Joyce Corder of Dobson and Patricia Harrison of Dobson. Mrs. Wood is also survived by four grandchildren which were the light of her life and whom she loved and cherished dearly; Timothy Roope of Hays, Kayla Gentry of Elkin, and Chase and Hunter Wood of Thurmond; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Caudill and Rev. Danny Bauguess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Knobbs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Kathy Wood, Traphill, NC 28685. The family would like to thank Dr. Pinkerton and staff, Forsyth Medical Center, and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital ICU for their care.
