Mr. Ronald Lee Jennings, age 79, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Jennings was born April 12, 1935 in Mecklenburg County to Ralph and Alma Ruth Doby Jennings. Mr. Jennings was a Veteran of the U.S. National Guard and a retired Electrical contractor. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. Mr. Jennings was also a member of the Elkin Masonic Lodge # 454 an ordained deacon and was an avid salt water fisherman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Johnson. Survivors include: his wife, Kay S. Jennings of the home; son, Ron Jennings, Jr. and wife Tina of Elkin; daughter, Tonya Smith and husband Michael of Ronda; brothers, Ned Jennings of Montana, Ralph Jennings, Jr. of SC, Gary Jennings of Florida; sisters, Cheryl Trail of VA, Phyllis Cantor of VA and Linda McKinnon of Florida; sister-in-law, Betty Caudle of Rockingham and grandson, Noah Smith. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson and Dr. Rick Bennett officiating.
