Mrs. Samantha Jane Collins, age 80, passed Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Mrs. Collins was born October 28, 1933 in Davie County to Garland and Margaret Doss Medley. Mrs. Collins was a member of Gid Branch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Burton Collins Sr.; brothers, J.C. Medley, John Medley and Norman Medley; sisters, Marie Owens and Margie Trivette. Survivors include: sons, Raymond "Benny" Collins of Spruce Pine; sisters, Peggy Collins of State Road, Sarah Blackburn of Thurmond, Rosalee Weaver and husband Dale of Thurmond, Sadie Bauguess and husband Duffy of Thurmond and Elizabeth Ann Youngquest and husband Frank of Thurmond; grandchildren, Joshua Collins and Adam Collins; great-grandchildren, Donavan Collins and Barbara Collins. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Gid Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Royal, Rev. Bob Lyles and Rev. Adam Collins officiating.
