Joann Foster

Joann Fulp Foster was born in Guilford County, NC May 6, 1931 to Olen R. and Lucy Corum Fulp. She graduated from Stokesdale School and City Hospital school of nursing in Winston Salem, NC. She then graduated from the school of anesthesiology at NC Baptist Hospital. She worked as a nurse anesthetist at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem as well as several other hospitals, the last being in Elkin, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Lucy Fulp, her husband, William Andrew (Andy) Foster, her son Andrew Rusel Foster, brother Bernard Fulp and sister Dawn Dalton. She is survived by nephew B.R. and Josh Fulp, nieces Bernardine Prevette, Bobbi Dalton and Sandra Charles and special cousin Bruce Neal. Joann had many special friends. She and Connie Freeman shared laughter and tears for many years. ReElla Ball was a good friend and good cook. Max and Alene Luffman were there for Joann in so many ways. Kelly and Brenda Wood were close friends and such good caregivers to Joann and K.C. Joann's good neighbors were Wiley and June McNeil. Joann cherished her friends and coworkers. Joann loved to travel, read, listen to music, collect antiques and eat chocolate. But most of all she loved Andy, Rusel and K.C. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was active in church until her health deteriorated. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday July 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. John Attaway officiating. Burial will follow Sunday July 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Stokesdale Christian Church.
