Mr. William James "Buster" Royal, age 69, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Royal was born June 12, 1945 in Surry County to William Marvin and Prudy Mae Barker Royal. Mr. Royal was a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church and was a lover of God, family, bluegrass music and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, William Marvin Royal and mother, Prudy Mae Barker Royal. Survivors include: brothers, Walter Eugene Royal and wife Sue Cox Royal of Elkin and Melvin Glenn Royal and wife Deborah Cooper Royal of Elkin; sister, Iva Dean Cox and husband Vance of Elkin and Betty Royal of Thurmond; four nephews; one niece; several great nieces and nephews; special great niece Carly Mullins. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Claude Lloyd and Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will accepted or memorials may be made to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice, Dr. Steven Meadows and staff, Dr. Paul Garrison and staff and Lincare for their care.
