Mrs. Willie Collins Settle, 85, passed away Sunday June 29, 2014 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. Settle was born March 27, 1929 in Surry County to Charlie and Lula Waddell Collins. Mrs. Settle was a dental assistant and retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Settle was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Billy Gwyn Settle and a sister Mabel Couch. Survivors include; her husband, Charlie Settle of the home, a son, Charles Settle of Jonesville, a daughter, Elizabeth King of Elkin, two sisters, Marie Norman of Elkin, Lucille Newton of Greensboro, two grandchildren, Justin Settle and wife Catherine, David Cooper, three great grandchildren, Britton Settle, Eli Settle, Julia Settle. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Chad Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 pm prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
