Fred David Layell

June 1, 1942 — June 16, 2014

Mr. Fred David Layell, age 72, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Layell was born June 1, 1942 in Surry County to Fred and Ila Bowers Layell. Mr. Layell was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Layell and brother, Tommy Layell. Survivors include: his mother, Ila B. Layell of State Road; wife, Mary Layell of Hamptonville; sons, Marty Layell of Hamptonville and Christopher Layell of Clemmons; brothers, Sherman Layell and his wife Janice of White Plains and Steve Layell and his wife Rhonda of Richmond, VA; sister, Loretta Lyall and her husband David of Glade Valley; grandchildren, Baleigh Jayden Layell and Daniel Adam Barbee. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests memorials be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hopsice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
