Mrs. Bernice Absher Jolly, formerly of Elkin, passed away, Wednesday, June 04, 2014. Mrs. Jolly was born on July 24, 1924 in Wilkes County to Curtis Jackson Absher and Ether Byrd Absher. After graduating from Ronda High School, she went to work in the courthouse in Wilkesboro during WWII and then worked for Chatham Manufacturing Co. where she remained a loyal employee for 44 years. On June 20, 1942 she married Marcus "Bud" Jolly. Mrs. Jolly was a member of Charity United Methodist Church. Her greatest legacy was the love she had for her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus "Bud" Jolly. Left to cherish memories are daughter, Patricia "Pete" Jolly of Archdale; sister, Bonnie Brown of Jonesville; special nieces & nephews, Mike and Teresa Gillespie, Chris and Vicky Brown, Harry Gillespie, Lynn Brown, Becky and Ed Stepps, Don Gillespie, Cindy Cassells, their children, grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Charity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 at Elkin Funeral Service. The family request memorials be made to Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery fund, 6440 Austin Traphill Rd Elkin, NC 28621 or a Charity of the donors choice.
