Mrs. Cindy Cathlene Duncan Shaw age 41, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Mrs. Shaw was born May 19, 1973 in Surry County to Jerry Duncan and Cathy Harris Canaday. Mrs. Shaw was a wonderful wife and mother and was a member of Thanks To Calvary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and always welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile. She also owned and operated Duncan & Co. Hair Salon. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Duncan. Survivors include: mother, Cathy Canaday of Elkin; husband, Steve Shaw of the home; sons, Tyler Minton of Wilkes County, Ethan McLean of the home, Colin Mclean of the home; step daughters, Kayci Shaw of Pinnacle, Aspen Shaw of the home, Addison Shaw of the home; sister, Michelle Duncan Marsh and husband Tim of Sanford; nieces, Stephanie Lane and Nichole Lane; nephew, Lathan Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 30, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Simpson and Rev. Mike Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Knobbs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to State Employees Credit Union of Elkin trust fund.
