Rev. Joseph "Joe" Wayne Myers, age 63, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Mr. Myers was born August 18, 1950 in Wilkes County to Ed and Ruby Somers Myers. Mr. Myers was a member of Benham Baptist Church. Mr. Myers was a graduate of Bob Jones University and was the former Pastor of Marantha Baptist Church in Yadkinville and Springfield Baptist Church in Hays. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Myers. Survivors include: his wife, Sue Barker Myers of the home; son, Matthew Myers and wife Dana of Yadkinville; daughter, Mary Ann Byrd and husband Nick of Reidsville; grandchildren, Raine Myers, Simon Byrd and Samuel Byrd; loving dog, Barney. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Benham Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Reeves and Rev. Dwayne Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will accepted or memorials may be made to donor's choice.
