Mrs. Clara Jean Stone Porter, age 71, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014. Mrs. Porter was born June 2, 1942 in Yadkin County to Elmer Stone and Ethel Patton Brewer. Mrs. Porter was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from Surry Community College. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Patton and brother, Otis Trexler. Survivors include: son, Billy C. Pruitt Jr. and wife Vicky of State Road; daughters, Anita Lynn Pruitt of State Road and Lory Hodges and husband Aldon of Mt. Airy; brothers, Charles Stone of Charlotte and Lester Trexler of Thurmond; sisters, Creola Moody of State Road and Sue Justice of Greensboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Brian Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
