Mrs. Carolyn Olivia Gaither Brown, age 65, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014. Mrs. Brown was born in Surry County to Robert Clifton and Beatrice Layell Gaither. Mrs. Brown was a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Dale Adams. Survivors include: husband, Burnice "Burnie" Brown of the home; granddaughter, Ashley Adams of Elkin; daughter-in-law, Dawn Adams of Elkin; sister, Robin Gaither of Charlotte; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene Brown and wife Wanda of Ronda, Pauline Fleenor of Mount Airy, Carlton Brown and wife Bunny of Elkin, Iris Brown of Elkin, Eddie Brown of Dobson and Jerry Fleenor of Mount Airy; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Tony White and Elder Carlton Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1266 Union Hill Rd Thurmond, NC 28683.
