Mr. John David "J.D." Steelman, age 74 passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014. Mr. Steelman was born April 21, 1939 in Yadkin County to Irvin and Lizzie Brown Steelman. Mr. Steelman was the owner of Dee Jay's Restaurant and was a chicken farmer for Tyson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Pearlie Vestal and brother, George Steelman. Survivors include: son, Johnny Steelman of Winston Salem; daughters, Tammy Steelman of Ashville and Sherri Wall of Pfafftown; brother, Clinton Steelman; sisters, Helen Reese, Ola Trivette, Vernell Matthews and Mary Ruth Bralley; grandson, Marshall Wall of Pfafftown. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Joel Vestal officiating. Burial will follow at Boonville cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the staff of Forsyth Medical Center for their care.
