Mr. William Howard Tucker, age 80 of Hamptonville, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 15, 1934 in Wilkes County to Carmel and Pauline Vanhoy Tucker. Mr. Tucker attended Elkin High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin. He retired from AT&T as a security officer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Stanley and son-in-law, Grady Gardner. Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Tucker of the home; children, Kara Gardner, Janice (Wayne) Moose, Nancy (Ricky) Parks, Cathy Coe (Thomas Marlow); sisters, Lorene (Wayne) Pardue, Clara (Doug) Bayliff; grandchildren, Jason Price, Cory Price, Jana (Mikey) Swaim, Grethcen (Bart) Bivins, Yancy (Ben) Burklow, Will Parks, and Annette Coe; great grandchildren, Emma Swaim, Mia Swaim, Nicholas Curry, Lathan Curry, Tanner Price; sister-in-law, Beatrice Thomasson; brother-in-law, Roy (Elena) Thomasson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance for his life will be conducted Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Rick Bennett and Rev. Rebecca Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul United Methodist Church cemetery in Hamptonville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, Post Office Box 618, Elkin, NC 28621 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family acknowledges a special thank you to Howard's caregivers and his many friends and neighbors in Elkin and Hamptonville.
