Mr. Shelly Dee Spicer, age 55, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Mr. Spicer was born in Alleghany County to Delaney and Bonnie Ledbetter Spicer. Mr. Spicer was a member of Center Baptist Church and the Yadkin American Legion # 336. He was preceded in death by his father, Delaney Spicer; wife, Teresa W. Spicer and brother, Troy Spicer. Survivors include: mother, Bonnie Spicer of State Road; daughters, Jennifer Niten and husband Jonathan of Elkin and Krystal "Boo Boo" Swaim and husband Dusty of Elkin; brothers, Jerry Spicer and wife Wanda of State Road and Steve Spicer and wife Peggy of Thurmond; sister-in-law, Doris Spicer of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Jake Niten, Jordan Niten, Jada Niten, Danielle Swaim and Dylan Swaim; great-grandchild, Daxton D. Niten. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 21, 2014 at Center Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors provided by VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Center Baptist Church, 2948 S Center Ch. Rd. Thurmond, NC 28683.
