Virginia Luffman

June 24, 1923 — February 17, 2014

Mrs. Virginia Pauline Cockerham Luffman, age 90, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014. Mrs. Luffman was born June 24, 1923 in Wilkes County to Carl and Tessie Durham Cockerham. Mrs. Luffman was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was a avid gardner and loved her flowers she also loved canning crops from her garden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Winfrey Luffman; brother Ralph Cockerham; sisters, Ruby Byrd, Grace Burcham, Nell Stickle, Iva Dean Wall and Jerri Hume. Survivors include: sons; Gerald Silas Luffman and wife Kay of Sparta and Max Larry Luffman and wife Alene of Elkin; sister, Ruth Yarboro of Roaring River; grandchildren, Sonya Richardson and husband Kenneth of Huntersville, Mechelle Dalton and husband Andy of Sparta and Eric Luffman and wife Clare of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Kallie Dalton, Caleb Dalton and Dylan Luffman; brother and sister-in-law Nathaniel and Edna Luffman of Elkin. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Blevins and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would appreciate flowers or memorials may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 1120 Austin Little Mountain Church Rd. Elkin, NC 28670. The family would like to thank Kim Williamson and the staff of Upac Health Care of Elkin and Upac Health Care Hospice Care for their love and care for Mrs. Luffman.
