Sallie Gilliam Norman, 91, passed away Friday January 10, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Norman was born August 16, 1922 in Wilkes County to William Ford and Martha Caroline Hanks Gilliam. Mrs. Norman was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Norman, a son, Bruce F. Norman, three sisters, Clara G. Cartwright, Lucy G. Kegley, Ann G. Waddell, two brothers, Jack Gilliam, William Samuel Gilliam. Survivors include, A daughter-in-law, Brenda Transou and husband Kris of Elkin, three grandchildren, Wendy Norman, Bobbi Jo Johnson and husband Marty, Stacey Norman Seiber, five great grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Jace Johnson, Logan Norman, Levi Seiber, two special nieces, Kathy Gilliam Hemric, Patsy Gilliam Martin, a special nephew, Gwyn Gilliam, several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel conducted by Rev. Mitch Smith. Burial will follow in Shoaly Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
