Mrs. Ruby Lee Bowers Brown, age 72, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013. Mrs. Brown was born April 20, 1941 in Surry County to Eugene and Arlis Finney Bowers. Mrs. Brown was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William George Brown, Sr. and brother, Alvis Bowers. Survivors include: sons, Newt Brown and wife Judy of State Road, James Brown and wife Jinny of Hays, William George Brown, Jr. and wife Angie of State Road, David Brown and wife Ginger of Shepherds X Road, Jeffrey Brown and wife Brittany of State Road; daughter, Geneva Pardue and husband Mike of State Road; brothers, Larry Bowers of State Road, Robert Bowers and wife Anna of State Road, Tony Wayne Bowers of State Road, Jack Bowers and wife Jo Ellen of Edenton; sister, Hazel Smiley and husband Russell of State Road; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special friend, Barbara Helms. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Freeman and Rev. Cory Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family would like to thank By Faith Baptist Church, Central View Baptist Church, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
