William Masten Brendle, Jr. "Scoot" passed away at the age of 67 on December 6th, 2013 at his North Carolina mountain home. He was born on September 30th, 1946 in Winston-Salem, NC to William Masten Brendle, Sr. and Mary Sheets Brendle. He attended Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC. He spent most of his life with his family in Winston-Salem, NC and spent the last 22 years in Jacksonville, FL. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and later retired as an Engineer from Martin Marietta. After retirement, his attachment to golf drove his journey to an Assistant Golf Professional at Cimarrone Golf Club and Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. His true passion was spending time with family and working on his mountain home in Elkin, NC. Another passion was making his prestigious 1965 Cobra race car Fast and Furious. Being well loved by all of his neighbors he acquired the title as "Mr. FIX IT" throughout the neighborhood. He is preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda F. Brendle; his father William M. Brendle, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL; son William M. Brendle, III (Julie) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Mary Kay Warren (Mark) of Jacksonville, FL and son Trent E. Brendle (Mindy) of Lakeland, FL. Three grandchildren, William Trevor Brendle of Lakeland, FL; Megan Taylor Risk and Joshua Oakley Warren of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his brother Jon C. Brendle (Pam) of Orlando, FL. He was a member of Deermeadows Baptist Church. In the Celebration of Scoot's life, a Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 14th, 2013 at Deermeadows Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Michael Riley officiating.
