Mr. Robert "Bob" Donald Brummel, aka "Big Papa", passed at 12:25pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He will be remembered for his bonfires, cane poles, dry wit, generosity, green thumb, blue overalls, and Lincolnesque looks. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy D. Brummel of the home; three children, Brenda Elise Hofmann of London, England, Becky Brummel of Kings Mountain, and Beau Brummel of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Kate Brummel, Robert Brummel, Jessica Brummel, Jackson Hofmann and Kendall Hofmann; brother Jim Brummel of Fresno, CA and lifetime friends Bill Hayward of State Road and Paul Hunter of Seattle, WA. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with some words delivered by Dr. Dan Merritt. Per Bob's wishes, casual dress is encouraged, and overalls would be a tribute.
