Mr. Robert Wendel Lowery a loving husband, father and grandfather, age 75 passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013. Mr. Lowery was born April 6, 1938 in Surry County to Cortez and Mary Yarboro Lowery. Mr. Lowery was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin and a member of Arlington Fire Department for 20 years where he also served on the board of Directors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Yarboro. Survivors include: his wife of 33 years Eloise T. Lowery of the home; daughters, Vikki Absher and husband Tim of Roaring River and Sandra Barker and husband Danny of Crumpler; brother, Gilbert Lowery and wife Carol of Cary; grandchildren, Angel Bell and husband Marty, Daniel Barker and wife Amanda, Allison Green and husband Scottie and Summer Severt and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Jamesyn Bell, Jackson Bell, Annalee Bell, Jamie Barker, Macie Severt and Bryson Severt. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Rick Bennett and Rev. Rebecca Husband Maynard officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW post 10346 at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, post office box 618, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank Arlington Fire Department, Yadkin Valley Home Health and First Baptist Church of Elkin for their care.
