Mrs. Bessie Shore Hill, age 76 of Jonesville passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 after a 31 year courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Mrs. Hill was born November 9, 1937 in Wilkes County to Wesley and Iza Chambers Shore. Mrs. Hill married Alfred D. Hill on July 8, 1960. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. Mrs. Hill was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and loved word puzzles and games. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Shore and Blaine Shore. Survivors include: her devoted husband of 53 years, Alfred D. Hill of the home; son, Phillip Hill and wife Martha of Jonesville; daughters, Allison Blevins and husband Tony of Elkin, Susan Harwell and husband Scott of Jonesville; sister, Jean Crater of Hamptonville; grandchildren, Noah Hill, Ethan Harwell and Gavin Harwell. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
