Mr. John Robert Cheek, Jr., age 53 passed away Friday, November 15, 2013. Mr. Cheek was born December 13, 1959 in Surry County to John Robert and Nina Hinson Cheek. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Stanley Cheek; sister, Nancy Elizabeth Cheek. Survivors include: mother, Nina Hinson Cheek; son, Clint Cheek and wife Misty of Thurmond; daughters., Meagan Cheek of Thurmond and Sonya Cheek of King; brother, Sammy Cheek and wife Debbie of Thurmond; sisters, Phyllis Johnson and husband Kenneth of Thurmond, Peggy Cheek Spicer and husband Steve of Thurmond, Zanna Combs and husband Jimmy of Elkin, Roberta Cheek Guyer and husband Gilvin of State Road, Camilla Cheek Simmons and husband Rickey of Thurmond and Teresa Cheek Sparks and husband Bobby of Elkin; mother-in-law, Betty Stanley of Thurmond. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at State Road Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Laray Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to State Road Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in c/o Sammy Cheek 2929 South Center Church Road, Thurmond, NC 28683.
