Mrs. Wilma Mounce Cockerham, 89, passed away Friday November 1, 2013 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Cockerham was born May 11, 1924 in Surry County to John William and Daisy Venable Mounce. Mrs. Cockerham retired from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of First Baptist Chruch of Elkin. Mrs. Cockerham was also a member of the Women's Club and Active Aging Adults. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Cockerham, brothers, Herber Mounce, Ralph Mounce, and sisters, Velna Riggan, Ima Chappell, Empress Melton, Stella Jenkins. Survivors include, A sister, Hazel Cummings of Elkin, a sister-in-law, Velma Mounce of Elkin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 3pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Dr. Bill Johnson, Hospice Chaplin officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin PO Box 618 Elkin, NC 28621
