Mr. Noel Conrad Houck, age 89 passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Mr. Houck was born March 31, 1924 in Ashe County to Cecil and Muncie Conner Houck. Mr. Houck was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. He was a retired barber at Wake Forest Baptist Medical center. He enjoyed doing yard work, gardening, carpentry and enjoyed spending time with friends and working with the public. Mr. Houck was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene M. Houck; brothers, Hartsell Houck, Tony Houck and Jerry Houck; sister, Barbara Allen. Survivors include: daughter, Anne Dare Handy of Dobson; brothers, Duaine Houck of PA, Jim Houck of Winston Salem, Cecil Houck of Winston Salem and Tom Houck of Clemmons; sisters, Violet Ragan of Boone, Zella Norris of Winston Salem, Sue Patella of Winston Salem and Gaye Bennett of TN; granddaughter Andrea Jeannette Lewis and husband Bill of Winston Salem. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Johnny Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Elkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by Yadkin VFW post 10346 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
