Mr. Billy Ray McCann, age 77 passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. Mr. McCann was born May 2, 1936 in Wilkes County to Jim and Maude Burcham McCann. Mr. McCann was a member of Rachel Baptist Church where he served as Trustee and was a Barber for 40 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Syble Gentry McCann; brothers, J. L. McCann and Henry McCann; sisters, Norma Howard, Doris Tharpe and Clara Huffman. Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Burcham McCann of the home; step son Tim Call of Roaring River; daughters, Patrina McCann Jordan and husband Phil of Jonesville and Renea McCann Jordan and husband Walt of Roaring River; step daughter, Kandie Call of Greensboro; brother, Tom McCann of Roaring River; sister, Betty McCann Tharpe of Zephyr; grandchildren, Landon Jordan, Brittany Jordan and Michael Hillson;great grandchild, Harper Rose Jordan. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Rachel Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wiles officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Home Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank to Mountain Valley Hospice and the ICU Department at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
