Mrs. Nancy Cockerham Teague, age70 passed away Monday, September 23, 2013. Mrs. Teague was born February 28, 1943 in Surry County to Ervie and Eddis Willey Cockerham. Mrs. Teague was a member of East Elkin Baptist Church and also served on the Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital Auxillary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Vergie Melton Cockerham; brothers, James Cockerham and Avery Cockerham; and stepbrother, Rex Melton. Survivors include: her husband, Burtle "Turk" Teague of the home; sisters, Marie Steel and husband Posey of Elkin; several step brothers and sisters; seven nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Pardue and Rev. Ray Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at Gum Orchard Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Gum Orchard Baptist Church, 152 Poplar Springs Rd Elkin, NC 28621.
