Mr. Thomas Nelson Davis, age 87 of Elkin, found the loving arms of Christ open to receive him on Friday, September 13, 2013. He was born December 5, 1925 in Yadkin County to John Henry Davis and Lula Cranfill Davis. Mr. Davis was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He accepted Christ as his savior at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and was an active member of Island Ford Baptist Church and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon. Mr. Davis retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. with 45 years of service where he met the love of his life, Thelma. He had three loves in his life God, country and family; God bless his life. In addition to his parents Mr. Davis was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and two half siblings; Mr. Davis being the last surviving. Survivors include: his loving and caring wife of 65 years, Thelma Lawrence Davis of the home; daughter, Debbie D. Walch and her husband Brian of Fairfax, VA; sisters-in-law, Ruth Davis and Faye Davis both of Jonesville; three beautiful grandchildren, Stephanie Walch, Sarah Walch, and Meghann Walch White and her husband Brad White, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Green and Rev. Mitch Smith officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with VFW Post 10346 assisting. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Youth, 1997 Pleasant Ridge Road, State Road, NC 28676. The family would like to thank Hospice of Wilkes, Dr. Wilson and Dr. Gulley and staff for their care.
