Mrs. Peggy Beam Luffman, age 70 of Elkin, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Luffman was born September 3, 1942 in Mitchell County, NC to Leslie "Bud" and Joda Benfield Beam. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Luffman was a past member of the Eastern Star and an auxiliary member of the Gideons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, Robert Beam and sister, Patricia Beam. Survivors include: her husband, Vernon Luffman of the home; daughters, Terri Love and her husband Terry of State Road and Sheryl Gilliam and her husband Randy of Elkin; brother, Carver Beam of Kewanee, IL; sisters, Betty Gish and her husband Robert of Kewanee, IL. and Linda Jacobson of South Daytona Beach, FL.; grandchildren, Alison Love, Morgan Love, and Roman Gilliam. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jonah Parker and Rev. Jerry Fugate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. The family requests that memorials may be made to The Gideons, post office box 95, Elkin, NC 28621 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice and Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
