Mr. Roy Garvey Poteat, age 72 passed away Friday, August 9, 2013. Mr.Poteat was born in Surry County to Carl and Levassie Poteat. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye C. Poteat. Survivors include: sons; Michael Poteat and wife Tammy of State Road and Marty Poteat of Elkin, daughter; Cynthia P. Nixon of Elkin, brother; John Poteat of Dobson, sisters; Nancy Wood and husband Bryce of Yadkinville and Shirley Poteat Bost of N.Wilkesboro, six grandchildren and one great-granchild. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday August 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoaley Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30pm at Elkin Funeral Service.
