Ben Oliver

February 7, 1926 — August 6, 2013

Eli Benjamin "Ben" Oliver, age 87 passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Oliver was born February 7, 1926 in Yadkin County to Claude and Cora Smith Oliver. Mr. Oliver was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a ordained deacon. Mr .Oliver was a Veteran of the U.S Army serving in WWII and retired after twenty one years of service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife; Bonnie Lee Absher Oliver, Second wife; Elaine F. Oliver; son, Benjamin Oliver, daughter; Susan Buie, infant sister; Brenda Bernice Oliver, sister; Mozelle Couch. Survivors include: his wife, Sharon S. Oliver of the home, daughter; Janie Oliver of Elkin, Six step-children, Fourteen grandchildren, several great -grandchildren and two great -great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Blevins, Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Wesley Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to thank the staff of Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home and Macedonia Baptist Church.
