Mrs. Mary Carter Collins, age 90 passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Mrs. Collins was born November 16, 1922 in Wilkes County to Kenis and Hallie Norman Carter. Mrs. Collins was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Collins; Daughter, Janet Collins Ferber; Granddaughter, Regina Ferber and brother, Harley Carter. Survivors include: Daughter, Sharon McKinney and husband Ron of Concord; brothers, Ernest Carter of Elkin and Kenis Carter Jr. of Yadkinville; sisters, Evon Couch of Elkin, Vassie Luffman and husband Haston of State Road, Mildred Axel of Florida and Peggy Cornelis and husband Allen of Pilot Mountain. Grandchildren include: Jan Ingram and husband Mike, Beth Icard and husband David, Michael McKinney and wife Charity and John Mckinney. Great Grandchildren include: Kaitlynn Ferber, Britnay Ferber, Kendall Ingram and Andrea Ingram, Several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday August 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Reeves and Rev. Johnny Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery fund at 1467 Cool Springs Church Rd, Elkin, NC 28621.
