C. Lonnie Gentry

May 10, 1923 — July 28, 2013

Ronda, Mr. C. Lonnie Gentry, age 90 passed away Sunday July 28, 2013. Mr. Gentry was born, May 10, 1923 in Wilkes County to Snead and Cordelia Sebastian Gentry. Mr. Gentry was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S Army and served in WWII, where he received five Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Survivors include: his wife, Gearldine Gentry of the home; sons, Rick Gentry and wife Deb of San Deigo, CA, Allen Gentry and wife Pam of Advance, Mike Gentry of Sparta, Daughter-in-law, LuAnn Rikard of Concord, One grandchild Stephanie Gentry, Special friend and caregiver, Debbie Burchette of Elkin. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Rev. David Key and Rev. Russ Nixon officiating . Burial will follow in church cemetery with full military rites offered by VFW Post 10346 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017 or Cool Springs Baptist Church 1467 Cool Springs Church Rd, Elkin, NC 28621.
