Mr. Donald Gordon McKichan, age 74 passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. Mr. McKichan was born August 7, 1938 in Middlesex County, Canada to Milton John and Ada Isabelle McDonald McKichan. Mr. McKichan served as a crew chief during 1973 and 1974 for driver Earl Ross with Carlings Race Team, and retired as mechanic for NASCAR. Mr. McKichan attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Clarence Lyle McKichan. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Lalich McKichan of the home; Son; Timothy Paul Mckichan and wife Amy Lee Kepley of Mooresville; brothers, Stan McKichan and wife Marion of Thedford, Ontario and Ken McKichan and wife Deanna of Northville, Ontario; Sister, Jean Shipway and husband Don of Ailsa Craig, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Dennis Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3982 Clingman Rd. Ronda NC, 28670 or to donors choice.
