Winston Salem, Mr. Ransome Edward Gillespie IV , age 62 passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. Mr. Gillespie was born May 18, 1951 in Grayson County, VA to Ransome "Pete" and Anne Absher Gillespie III. Mr. Gillespie is retired from Wake Forest University and was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gillespie. Survivors include: brothers; Mike Gillespie and wife Teresa of King; Harry Gillespie of Winston Salem; Don Gillespie and Julie Thompson of Winston Salem; sisters, Becky Stepps and husband Ed of Arcadia; Cindy Evans Cassels of Durham; "big sister" Patricia "Pete" Spencer of Archdale; special aunts; Bernice Jolly of Elkin and Bonnie Brown of Jonesville; special great-nephew, Colten Wilmoth of Germanton, and Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Charity United Methodist Church with Rev. Rex Cranfill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests that memorials be made to The Childrens Home, 1001 Reynolda Rd. Winston Salem NC, 27104.
