Mr. Bobby Gray Colvard, age 74 of Elkin, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Colvard was born July 7, 1938 in Wilkes County to Ralph and Jessie Vestal Colvard. He was retired from G&B Energy and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he served as an usher and was a member of Men on a Mission Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter, Angela Lynn Colvard; grandson, Wayne Colvard, and great grandson, Kymani Jones. Survivors include: his wife, Irene S. Colvard of the home, sons, Bill Colvard and wife Lynda of Jonesville and Doug Colvard and wife Tammy of Elkin; daughter Glenda Billings and husband Jimmy of Ronda; brother, Larry Colvard and wife Brenda of Dobson; sisters, Shirley Holbrook of Jonesville, Barbara Childress and husband Roger of Jonesville, Sarah Stinson and husband Varner of Pfafftown, and Yvonne Johnson and husband Roger of Jonesville; grandchildren, Jarrod Billings and wife Samantha, Heather Colvard, Grey Billings, Nick Johnson, Lyndsey Cheek and husband Dustin, and Joie Rush and husband Matt; and great grandchildren, Mason, Tyler, Gracee, Paul, and Tatyana. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds, Dr. Gary Byrd, and Rev. Vernon Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ushers of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Elkin, NC 28621 or Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27107.
