Mrs. Ola Myrtle Darnell Lewis, Age 97, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Mrs. Lewis was born September 11, 1915 in Wilkes County to Jessie and Cora Burcham Darnell. She was a member of Benham Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker, seamstress and a community servant. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin Lewis; brothers, Jasper Darnell, Felix Darnell and Thaddeus Darnell; sisters, Ester Darnell and Norma Jane Baker. Survivors include: her daughter, Rita Gentry and husband Larry of Elkin; sisters, Rachel Holcomb of Elkin and Sarah Ross of Colorado; Grandchildren, Travis Gentry and wife Renee, Elisha Hall and husband Todd; Great grandchildren, Hannah Gentry, Huston Hall, Alex Gentry, and Brady Hall; Special Friend Thelma Spurlin of Elkin. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Benham Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Combs and Jeff Reeves officiating. Burial will follow Benham Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
