Mr. Billy "Bill" Clifton Newman, age 54 of State Road, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Bill was born July 19, 1958 in Surry County to Bobby and Betty Dezern Newman. In addition to his parents survivors include: his wife, Anita Wyatt Newman of the home; son, Phillip Clifton Newman and his wife Kelly of Jonesville; daughters, Meka Renee Newman and Tanner Price of Claudville, VA and Talea Estee Newman and fiancé Josh Brown of Yadkinville; brothers, Jerry Newman and his wife Colene of Elkin and Buddy Newman and his wife Tammy of Elkin; sister, Patsy Watson of Elkin; and nephews, Nathan Newman and Justin Sloan. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
