Mrs. Georgia Lee Barker, age 89 of Roaring River, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013. She was born August 4, 1923 in Wilkes County to John and Mattie Walker Holloway. Mrs. Barker was a member of Benham Baptist Church where she was a choir member, Sunday school teacher, bereavement committee member, and active in Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters, Connie Hutchinson, Mae Ring, and Troy Cooper and brothers, Lester Holloway and Clifton Holloway. Survivors include: her husband, Luther M. Barker of the home; daughter, Judy Settle of Roaring River; granddaughter, Amy Cook and her husband Preston; great granddaughter, Audrey Cook; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Elmer Barker and Rev. Stewart Roten officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family will accept flowers of memorials may be made to Benham Baptist Church, 8697 Greenhorn Road, Elkin, NC 28621.
