Mr. Jerry Walter McCann, age 68, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. McCann was born July 18, 1944 in Forsyth County to Walter Avery and Laura Thompson McCann. Mr. McCann was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church. He was a member of the State Road Volunteer Fire Department and Surry County VFW Post #2019. Mr. McCann was a veteran with the US Army in Vietnam. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Onifer McCann. Survivors include: his wife, Pat McCann of the home; son, Brandon McCann of State Road; daughter, Regina Reams and husband James of Ararat; brother, Tommy McCann and wife Nellie of Thurmond and two grandchildren, Timothy Reams and Brianna Reams. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at White Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. John Attaway and Rev. James Reams officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to State Road Volunteer Fire Department First Responders, PO Box 1, State Road, NC 28676 or White Rock United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Louella Johnson, 3645 Austin Little Mtn.
