Mrs. Versie W. Warren, age 98, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Elkin Assisted Living. Mrs. Warren was born February 22, 1915 in Surry County to Genie D. and Letha Mae Hicks Wilmoth. Mrs. Warren attended Elkin Valley Baptist Church. She owned Morrison's Florist and retired from R.J. Reynolds. She was a loving mother and sister and loved flowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Warren and her brothers Delbert Wilmoth and Esker Lee Wilmoth. Survivors include her son: Daniel S. "Dan" Moore of Elkin; brothers, Buster Wilmoth and wife Shirley of Pilot Mountain and Claude W. Wilmoth and wife Pattie of Pfafftown; sister, Annie of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 2:00 at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Stewart Roten officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice; Angela Wheeler staff of Elkin Assisted Living; Michael Stockton and Dr. Groner for their care.
