Robert Garrett "Bob" Hatmaker, of Elkin, NC, formally Of Coalwood, WV, died April 11, 2013, in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. Robert was born January 8, 1947 at Coalwood, McDowell County, WV. He was the son of Albert Norman and Wilma Lorraine (Lawrence) Hatmaker. Robert's parents and a sister, Peggy Ann Hatmaker, preceded him in death. Robert was a retired USAF Master Sergeant, two-tour veteran of Vietnam: Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver and Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Occupation Medal, and several others. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Looney) Hatmaker; Children: Gerri Lyn (Kerry Roberts), Columbus, OH; Robert, Jr., Canal Winchester, OH; Lori Ann (Tom) Sonesaksith, San Diego, CA, Amy (Todd Kirk) Groveport, OH; Krista (Josh Smith), Lancaster, OH; Kristina Parsons, Wilkesboro, NC; Jera Parsons, Wilkesboro, NC; Grandchildren: Abigail and Ashley Hatmaker; Ayden and Addyson Kirk; Dylan and Brooklynn Sonesaksith; Roman Smith. Brothers: Albert Norman, Jr. (Alberta Musselman), Glenelg, MD; and Jerry Roger (Libbie Klotz), Lancaster, OH. Aunts and uncles: Beryl Lawrence Gilkerson, Avon, OH; Joyce Lawrence Rankin, Oakwood, GA; Helen Lawrence Eveson (Roger), Baltimore, MD; Lola Hatmaker (John) Murray, Bluefield, WV; Jerry Randall (Karen) Hatmaker, Mt. Airy, NC; Derina Hatmaker (William) Roberts, Pilot Mountain, NC; Susan Hatmake(Ken) Blevins, Dobson, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family expresses special thanks and appreciation for the excellent care provided by the cardiac units at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
